Advanced Circuits of Aurora, Colorado, has achieved a feat to be celebrated – the certification of 100 percent of its production staff on the technical requirements of PCB manufacturing.
In order to be fully trained on a process in Advanced Circuits' unique company program, an employee must:
• Complete training and testing by a supervisor,
• Pass a written exam with a minimum score of 90 percent,
• Undergo evaluation by an external auditor.
“Our intention is to create our own internal experts in each process,” said Tony Garramone, corporate training manager for Advanced Circuits. “Certification creates a sense of pride in workmanship and benefits the customer through our on-time delivery rate and products that are manufactured correctly the first time.”
Employees are encouraged to become certified not only in their specific production area but in other processes as well. In addition, all employees, including upper-level management, are required to complete a minimum of four hours of training each month. This commitment to educating and investing in employees has paid off in low employee turnover and high job satisfaction.
The company believes that having better trained and more knowledgeable workers results in a higher quality product and the best on-time shipping record in the industry. The Manufacturer does not doubt it and is proud to publish this story as an example of best practice in manufacturing.
