Maxim Integrated Products, Inc., has been notified that a truck carrying Maxim parts was recently hijacked in Malaysia. The stolen units, with a market value of approximately US $2,200,000, were untested.
The Sunnyvale, CA-based company is currently notifying their customers affected by the hijacking. Maxim is a designer, developer, and manufacturer of linear and mixed-signal integrated circuits (ICs). The company warns that if the stolen units show up in the market, they will appear complete; however, they have not gone through the entire manufacturing process. Most importantly, the units have not been tested for failure. Maxim warns that using these untested devices in systems could cause significant damage.
The part numbers and date codes of the stolen units can be accessed online at: www.maxim-ic.com/hijackedparts. Maxim advises against the purchase of the listed devices from any seller other than those approved by the company.
