Boeing gets lion’s share of Lion Air orders

Lion Air, Indonesia's first low-cost carrier, has selected Boeing’s Next-Generation 737 in an agreement that involves ordering up to 60 planes.
The agreement includes a combination of 737-800s and the proposed 737-900X, pending finalization of the definitive agreement, as well as the launch of the 737-900X. Overall, the 737 airplane family is the world's best-selling commercial jet airplane, with more than 5,500 ordered by 220 customers.
Boeing is the world’s leading aerospace company, and employs more than 159,000 people in 48 states and 67 countries. Total company revenues for 2004 were $52.5 billion.
Lion Air was set up in October 1999. Currently the airline has a fleet of 34 aircraft, including six Boeing 737-400s, and has 50 domestic routes in Indonesia as well as to and from the Asia Pacific region.
