Perot Systems Corp. has been selected as the IT provider for both Vought Aircraft Industries, and Global Aeronautica, LLC, in support of their new manufacturing and integration facilities for the Boeing 787 program.
Vought and Global Aeronautica recently broke ground for two new purpose-built facilities at Charleston International Airport in North Charleston, SC. Vought will build the 787 aft fuselage in its facility, and Global Aeronautica will integrate a large portion of the fuselage in its building. Production is anticipated to begin early in 2006.
“With Perot Systems support, Vought will be able to deploy leading edge integrated systems for our South Carolina operations. The Perot Systems team is working closely with our team to define Lean and industry best practices to support the 787 production program,” said Vought Chairman, President and CEO Tom Risley.
"As the primary integrator of airframe structures on the 787, we need a sophisticated technology infrastructure," said Global Aeronautica Vice President and General Manager Russ Day. "We will utilize Perot Systems' expertise to help us achieve our vision of seamless product integration."
