The automotive sector continues to suffer, with domestic automakers reporting mixed results for June; GM was the only one to post gains for the month.
GM increased 4.3% from a year ago, but Ford plummeted 10.6% and Chrysler fell 4.3%. May’s auto sales were at their lowest in four years.
GM and Ford recently offered low-cost financing and cash rebates to stimulate sales growth. GM’s new deal includes interest-free, five-year loans through September 3. Ford’s plan includes cash rebates until September 30.
