After four months of negotiations, Northrop Grumman Corp. will finally purchase US space and defense manufacturer TRW for $7.8 billion, a sum nearly $2 billion higher than original offer.
The acquisition will put Northrop Grumman in league with defense contractors Lockheed Martin and Boeing. It has projected annual revenue of more than $26 billion.
TRW is a well-known manufacturer of space and defense products, including spacecraft and satellites, defense communications equipment, and high-energy lasers. Goodrich recently purchased TRW’s UK-based aeronautical systems business for $1.5 billion.
