The quarterly Manufacturers Alliance/MAPI index has risen to 63%, reaching its highest point since June 2000, when it reached 64%.
The improvement continues the steady upward trend for the index since reaching its all-time low of 34% in March of last year; it had rebounded to 52% by March of this year. In a press release, the group said, “Today’s release provides solid evidence for growth in manufacturing. A composite business index above 50% indicates that overall manufacturing activity is expected to increase over the next three months.”
