International Paper has closed Asurys, its RFID business unit.
This is the unit that developed RFID-enabled clamp trucks, and a unique warehouse system that puts tags in the floor and readers on the trucks.
Asurys grew from IP's Smart Packaging unit, which was a value-add and consultative service. IP plans to reabsorb the 25 Asurys employees, and leave RFID to those companies for whom it is a core business.
