Geomagic expands presence in China:

As the Chinese manufacturing base expands, so too do the support activities of software and service providers. Geomagic, supplier of digital shape sampling and processing (DSSP) software and services, is the latest to announce the opening of a wholly owned subsidiary in Shanghai.

The company previously had a branch office to service its customer base, but increasing demand for Geomagic software in the Chinese manufacturing market has prompted the formation of Geomagic (Shanghai) Software to provide development and software testing, as well as sales, training and support to customers throughout the region.

“China is an evolving market, especially in the areas of design and testing,” comments Jerry Zhou, deputy general manager for Geomagic (Shanghai) Software. “We believe Geomagic solutions will contribute to China's developing economy by offering fast and cost-effective engineering and inspection solutions to a growing customer base.” Geomagic software enables engineers and designers to transform scan data from physical objects into highly accurate digital models for applications ranging from digital shape reconstruction for mass customization and reverse engineering to computer-aided inspection. It has played a role in the safe return of the NASA space shuttle Discovery, and in the reconstruction of legacy parts and molds for Harley-Davidson motorcycles.

Geomagic has headquarters in Research Triangle Park, North Carolina, subsidiaries in Europe and Asia, and distributors worldwide.
