CDI, a leading engineering outsource supplier, has signed a contract with Airbus to design the landing gear bay for the new Airbus A380, marking the first US company to be involved in the design of an Airbus aircraft.
CDI will draw upon the resources of 30 CDI engineers to complete the project.
When complete, it will be the largest aircraft ever manufactured, providing space for 555 passengers, sleeping cabins, crew rest centers, a business center, and a nursery.
“CDI is helping Airbus take outsourcing to a new level with the A380,” said Roger Ballou, president and CEO of CDI. “We’ll draw on the skill and experience of our engineers in the US, Canada, and Europe to ensure that Airbus has the best talent in the world involved in the designs of its groundbreaking new airliner.”
