as The New York Times reports, the International Energy Agency has concluded that China will surpass the US in greenhouse gas emissions (linked to global warming) as of 2009.
China relies more heavily on coal than the US, and as a developing nation, is exempt from Kyoto Protocol requirements for reductions. But as Manufacturer readers know well, it is a fast-developing nation with considerable industry.
The Energy Agency also concluded that the bulk of GHG emissions in the coming years will be from developing nations, like China and India.
