Medpharm: Fed judge blocks Vioxx class-action suits

US District Court Judge Eldon Fallon has ruled against a mega-suit against Merck.
In a 25-page ruling, Fallon disallowed plaintiffs' proposal to combine thousands of individual lawsuits into a single class-action suit. Merck has pledged to fight every such case, which allege that its Vioxx medication has caused heart attacks, among other complications.
