The US Supreme Court this week will hear arguments from a dozen states, plus environmental groups and municipalities, on Bush administration environmental policies. Those entities urge that the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) must enforce higher standards for carbon dioxide emissions from vehicles, in the interest of public health.
The Bush administration will argute that EPA lacks the power under the Clean Air Act to regulate carbon dioxide as a pollutant. EPA believes it has the means to address emissions without imposing stricter emissions controls.
