ABB opens Asia Center for Control Systems and Products in Singapore

ABB, the leading power and automation technology group, has announced that it has opened a dedicated Control Systems and Products Regional Action Center (RAC) in Singapore to, as ABB describes, "serve its customers in the rapidly growing Asian market." The RAC will provide technical and training support for automation customers, as well as include regional sales support, marketing, and business development functions.

The opening ceremony for the RAC, which is now fully operational, took place on January 16, 2007. Mr. Kenneth Tan, Director Services Cluster, Singapore Economic Development Board, was the guest-of-honour for the event.

“This initiative in Asia - the fastest growing market, for Process Automation Control Systems and Products intensifies ABB’s growth strategy as a global leader in Process Automation, “ said James Foo, President and Country Manager of ABB Singapore. “This ensures that a complete ABB control product portfolio is coherently positioned to customers and business partners in the region.”

The Singapore Regional Action Center will provide technical, training, and sales support for control systems and products throughout the Asia region. These products include ABB’s control system solutions, including System 800xA Extended Automation, as well as individual control system components such as control hardware and software, I/O and related control system software applications.

Congratulating ABB on the new regional center, Kenneth Tan of the Economic Development Board, said, "ABB is effectively leveraging Singapore’s advantages to grow its business in all aspects. With its Global Marine Engineering Centre also located here, ABB affirms Singapore’s reputation as a key business and technology hub for businesses. With our strategic location, good infrastructure, pro-business environment and conducive tax regime, Singapore is now a magnet for multinational companies from all geographies looking to use Singapore as a launch-pad into the region. ABB will now be able to continue to grow its leading position in the region from Singapore."

ABB Singapore has also opened two other Centers: a Center of Excellence (CoE) for its Pulp and Paper business in 2005, and a Center of Competence (CoC) for its Marine business unit in 2006
