Dassault Systèmes, a world leader in 3D and Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) solutions, has announced that one of its customers, ITER, as well as one of DS’s industry solutions directors, will speak at the DaratechPLANT 2007 conference Jan. 29-31 in Houston.
As in previous years, a Dassault Systèmes customer will speak at DaratechPLANT about the value of DS’s V5 PLM solutions in designing, producing and maintaining industrial facilities ranging from manufacturing plants to nuclear power stations.
Eric Martin, head of the ITER International Fusion Energy Research Project’s design office, speaking at DaratechPLANT’s Tuesday morning program, will discuss PLM’s collaborative capabilities and the value of centrally controlling engineering content. ITER has used Dassault Systèmes’ CATIA design authoring solution since the beginning of the project to define the “tokamak” – the heart of the ITER fusion machine – and design the surrounding structure and piping.
In addition, Christian Barlach, Dassault Systèmes’ industry solutions director, will speak on DaratechPLANT’s Wednesday panel “System Architectures & What They Mean for Users.”
“PLM is most often associated with what is produced inside a facility, but it has equal value for developing and maintaining the facilities themselves,” said Rolf Gibbels, Dassault Systèmes’ Process, Power & Petroleum industry manager. “Customers such as HydroQuebec, Southern California Edison’s San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station, and Farnham & Pfile Construction and others are using our solutions to do some very innovative work in plant development and maintenance.”
Last year’s DaratechPLANT conference was keynoted by Dassault Systèmes’ customer Brian Chang, president of Yantai Raffles, the offshore and shipbuilding organization responsible for building the Sevan Stabilized Platform, the floating production, storage and offloading unit designed by Norway-based EPC Sevan Marine.
