Ketera, the leading provider of On-Demand Spend Management solutions, and Hyperion, a global leader in Business Performance Management (BPM) software, hass announced they have signed an OEM partnership agreement to deliver operational business intelligence (BI) capabilities to customers.
Ketera plans to integrate its on demand (web-based) solution with a traditional, on-premise application supported by Hyperion behind a corporate firewall, which will be a milestone in the rapid evolution of the Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) market.
This technical breakthrough is a realization of the long-awaited promise of operational Business Intelligence (BI), which allows customers to capture and analyze spend data in real-time to optimize business operations. As a result of this partnership, CFOs will be able to use Ketera’s on demand solutions to track the performance and status of their spend management initiatives anytime from anywhere via a Hyperion dashboard. This will, the companies claim, give CFOs clear visibility into dollars spent so they can act quickly and take advantage of savings opportunities.
Also as a result of this partnership, Ketera will integrate the Ketera Spend Management suite with Hyperion System 9 BI+ Interactive Reporting to deliver on-demand reporting functionality to customers. This will allow the more than 30,000 Ketera users to leverage the power of Hyperion’s BI solution within Ketera’s on-demand environment. Likewise, Hyperion’s 12,000 customers will be able to easily adopt Ketera’s Spend Management suite, and immediately get visibility into the performance of their strategic sourcing and procure-to-pay processes.
“The ability for senior managers to respond quickly to changing conditions and optimize business operations is more critical than ever,” said Godfrey Sullivan, president and CEO of Hyperion. “This integration of Ketera’s on demand Spend Management solution with Hyperion Interactive Reporting demonstrates how the combination of real-time, operational spend data and financial metrics will drive savings that go directly to the bottom line.”
“This will be a significant breakthrough and milestone for the SaaS movement,” said Burton M. Goldfield, CEO, Ketera Technologies. “One of the criticisms of SaaS solutions has been their lack of enterprise-class integration with solutions behind the corporate firewall. We are enthusiastic about this new partnership with Hyperion as it will allow two enterprise-class solutions, one delivered on demand and the other installed behind the firewall, to be tightly integrated and provide more meaningful financial and operational metrics to CFOs in real-time.”
“One of the common myths in the market has been that SaaS cannot play an important role in the ‘back-office’ of major corporations because it could not integrate with on-premise applications,” said Jeffrey M. Kaplan, managing director of THINKstrategies and founder of the Software-as-a-Service Showplace. “The Ketera/Hyperion partnership will disprove this myth and demonstrate how on-demand and on-premise solutions can be integrated to provide corporate executives with critical data which wasn’t available in the past.”
