The Department of Commerce’s international trade report indicated that the monthly trade deficit dropped to $37.2 billion in June, down from $37.8 billion in May.
In addition, exports rose $1.3 billion in June, marking the fourth consecutive monthly increase.
“I expect we will see an improvement in the net export component of GDP that will raise the second quarter when the Commerce Department releases its preliminary revision to second quarter GDP next week,” said Jerry Jasinowski, president of the National Association of Manufacturers.
