Honeywell’s Automation and Control Solutions division announced plans to purchase Invensys’ Sensor System business for $415 million cash in a deal expected to close in September 2002.
Headquartered in Shelby, NC, Invensys manufactures sensors for medical, office automation, aerospace, HVAC, automotive, and consumer appliance industries. It has 13 manufacturing facilities in six countries, and it has over 2,700 employees.
“Invensys had previously identified Sensor Systems as a non-core business and slated it for divestiture,” stated Paula Hollywood, ARC’s senior analyst. “The synergies that exist between the two companies makes this a most logical acquisition for Honeywell. The Sensor System products will strengthen Honeywell’s Automation and Control unit offering in a number of industries, including medical, aerospace, HVAC, and automotive.”
