The Boeing Company issued a statement this week, at the request of the Federal Mediation and Conciliation Service, in regard to the recent vote on its latest offer a new contract by International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAM) members. It stated that the Boeing negotiating team has done everything possible and within reason to craft an offer that is fair, competitive, and respectful of the concerns of its IAM-represented employees.
After several heated negotiations with the IAM, of which 26,000 Boeing employees belong, the Boeing Company released its best and final offer, marking an end to its involvement in the negotiating process.
“Preparation for these negotiations began nearly a year ago and included numerous meetings with union leadership and the union’s negotiating team. The teams spent months negotiating in good faith. At the end of the scheduled talks, both sides had presented their final proposals, and the process was ready to move to a vote. There is nothing left to negotiate.”
