Indiana Motorsports Ass'n names SME official technical partner

The Indiana Motorsports Association today named The Society of Manufacturing Engineers (SME) as its official technical partner.

The Indiana Motorsports Association provides a unified motorsports business voice for the state of Indiana. Some key members of the Indiana Motorsports Association include the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, the IndyCar Series, the United States Auto Club, C&R Racing, Target Chip Ganassi Racing, Lingenfelter Performance Engineering and the Indiana Economic Development Corp.

"The Indiana Motorsports Association is proud to partner with a respected society such as SME," said Tom Weisenbach, president of the Indiana Motorsports Association. "SME's wealth of technical knowledge brings people and information together to advance manufacturing knowledge. The fact that SME is internationally recognized by manufacturing practitioners, companies and other organizations as their source for information, education, and networking is a great fit for our membership"

The Indiana Motorsports Association has ambitious short-term goals that seek to expand on general business information outreach programs, ensure motorsports businesses have the resources to capitalize on opportunities, offer networking opportunities at all levels including government and industry, help university internship programs and deliver unified and discounted banking services, health care and retirement programs.

SME's expertise in automated manufacturing and assembly, forming and fabricating, industrial laser, machining and material removal, manufacturing education and research, product and process design and management, rapid technologies and additive manufacturing and plastics, composites and coatings provides the basis for its partnership with the Indiana Motorsports Association.
