Siemens Financial Services enhances financing solutions in healthcare, energy, and industrial sectors

Siemens Financial Services, Inc. (SFS) announced a new initiative to provide integrated financing solutions to the healthcare, energy, and industrial sectors. As such, SFS has restructured the organization by forming a Healthcare Finance Group, an Energy Finance Group, and an Industrial Finance Group. The groups will enable business expansion for customers in each of the three sectors by allowing them to invest in innovative technologies in the most cost-effective ways.

This differs from the previous structure of the company, which was defined by financial product area. By focusing specifically on the healthcare, energy, and industrial sectors, SFS is positioning itself to deliver integrated solutions based on Siemens knowledge and expertise. The new structure closely aligns with Siemens’ overall business portfolio, allowing SFS to leverage the industry knowledge that exists throughout the organization and offer unique expertise to its customers.

The new strategy also puts SFS in a prime position to handle financing needs in a number of high-growth areas. Specifically, the company is moving to deal with two “megatrends”:

• Demographic change. The population of the world is rapidly growing and aging (global population will hit 9 billion by 2050; more people above 60 years old than under 14 by that time as well). This will create greater demand for power, healthcare services, and environmentally compatible solutions. In addition, the challenge of supplying food and industrial goods will become increasingly complex.

• Urbanization. This is the first year ever when more than half the world’s population lives in urban areas. With the rapid growth of cities comes a variety of challenges, including greater need for energy and water. It is also becoming increasing important for cities to become more environmentally conscious.

Investments in new technologies will be critical to overcoming the challenges above.
