Seven months after a merger made it one of the country’s largest last-mile logistics and delivery providers, 3PD has acquired Affinity Logistics (HD) Corporation, another leading last-mile company.
The acquisition increases 3PD’s projected annual revenues by more than 50 percent – from $200 million to nearly $300 million -- and increases its transportation bandwidth to 1,500 drivers and 1,350 trucks throughout the country. It also significantly expands 3PD’s expertise in dedicated last-mile transportation.
“Like our merger with GTS last December, this acquisition is part of our plan to be a well-rounded nationwide last-mile leader in a market that has traditionally offered only regional and local solutions,” said 3PD Chairman and CEO Karl Meyer. “The last-mile heavy goods delivery industry needs a player that can do the heavy lifting of being a coast-to-coast solution with a variety of service options, and we’re determined to be that company.
“We’ve admired Affinity’s service record and customer focus for a long time, and we are especially pleased to be adding its dedicated scale and experience to our platform.”
Founded in 2001, 3PDelivery (www.3pd.com) provides millions of home, job site and business-to-business deliveries for some of the country's largest home improvement, appliance and building supply retailers. Prior to acquiring Affinity, it operated in 45 states, making approximately 3 million deliveries per year via 1,100 trucks and 1,200 drivers. It is headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia.
Also headquartered in the Atlanta area, Affinity was founded in 1999. Prior to the acquisition, it completed more than 1.7 million home deliveries annually.
