Freescale Semiconductor Chooses AeroScout for Innovative Asset-Tracking Solution

Wi-Fi-Based Active RFID Project Helps Increase Productivity

SAN MATEO, Calif., August 27, 2007 – AeroScout, Inc., (http://www.aeroscout.com) the leading provider of Wi-Fi-based Active RFID solutions, today announced that Freescale Semiconductor has chosen AeroScout’s real-time location solution to track and manage all production wafer lot boxes throughout one of its wafer fabrication factories.

AeroScout and Freescale designed an innovative and cost-effective way for associates to promptly locate lots (specialized wafer containers) on the factory floor. With the RFID solution, the lot location is displayed on a screen within seconds of arrival. This helps to improve lot handling and to minimize the risk of error.

“AeroScout delivered an easy-to-use solution that helped us improve productivity, while leveraging our existing network infrastructure,” said Chris Magnella, operations manager, Freescale Semiconductor.

Each lot is affixed with one of AeroScout’s Wi-Fi-based Active RFID tags. The tags communicate over Freescale’s standard Wi-Fi network. AeroScout MobileView software then accurately maps the lots’ locations as they progress through the manufacturing cycle and integrates directly with Freescale’s existing manufacturing systems. Equipment operators can quickly locate and identify individual lots at their workstations. The actual lot is then triggered to visually identify itself via the tag’s LED lights.
