DOC and NAM to partner on fostering trade

The US Department of Commerce’s BuyUSA.com program and the National Association of Manufacturers (NAM) have announced a partnership for members to identify and pursue new international sales opportunities.

BuyUSA.com is an Internet service provided by the DOC for small and medium-sized American exporters with pre-screened international buyers and distributors to connect with trade specialists in 157 embassies worldwide.

“Helping small and medium-sized manufacturers increase their exports is critical to increasing economic growth and creating new jobs,” said Maria Cino, assistant secretary and director general of the Commerce Department’s US Commercial Service. “This partnership combines the global network and expertise of the Commerce Department with the unparalleled reach of the NAM across the spectrum of manufacturing.”

NAM’s 14,000 members will receive a discount when they join BuyUSA.com and will be introduced to more than 20,000 pre-qualified international buyers, distributors, and representatives who are pursuing US products and services.

“BuyUSA.com is more than a Web site,” said Frank Vargo, NAM’s VP for International Economic Affairs. “Unlike other e-marketplaces, BuyUSA.com is backed by more than 1,700 trade professionals from 107 offices around the US and 157 offices abroad. You don’t have to worry about whether a potential overseas customer or partner is legitimate, or about mastering all details of other countries’ rules and regulations. Commerce’s worldwide staff will help you every step of the way.”
