Lucent revenues fall, staff cuts expected

Citing a drop in demand, Lucent Technologies has said its revenues may fall as much as 25% in the current quarter.
The New-Jersey based company announced 7,000 layoffs in July, and more job cuts are expected. It will report fourth-quarter results on October 23 and expects pro forma losses of 45 cents on revenues of $2.21-2.36 billion. The company has said it is continuing to work toward a return to profitability by the end of fiscal 2003.
