July inventories increased

Manufacturer’s inventories, excluding semiconductors, rose 0.4% to $1,124.5 billion, according the US Census Bureau’s latest report.
Year to date, July 2002’s figures are 3.7% lower. Sales increased 1.2% to $832.8 billion and increased 2.2% from June 2001. The inventories to sales ratio, based on seasonally adjusted figures, was 1.35 in July, whereas July 2001’s reading was 1.43.
