Electric vehicle maker ZAP has announced an offer to acquire Ford’s Think electric vehicle assets.
The offer is for up to $10 million in cash, stock, or warrants and follows reports that Ford has shut down the Think project after spending $123 million, citing poor customer demand and lack of government support for the cars.
“Ford has said it’s disappointed in sales and yet the car has never been offered for sale in the USA,” said Dr. Nick Carter, president of the San Francisco chapter of the Electric Auto Association. “They have also said there is a lack of government support, yet an EV for sale in California this year is eligible for up to $9,000 in state rebates.”
