US New Orders Fall in September

For the second consecutive month, new orders for manufactured goods has fallen.
The September decrease of 2.3% follows a 0.4% August decrease. New orders for 2002 were 1.7% below the same period a year ago. The decline in new orders for manufactured durable goods was even steeper, declining by 4.9%, revised from the previously published 5.9% decrease. Inventories of durable goods in September were down 0.3%, their lowest level since December of 1995.
