The new Boeing 777-300ER jetliner has just rolled off the production line at the company’s Everret, Wash. facility.
The 300ER is the first of two longer-range 777 models to be completed. Launched in 2000 by Boeing and General Electric Aircraft Engineers, the 300ER was designed at the request of customers in need of an airplane with more flexibility to handle the growing demand for non-stop flights.
“This is an exciting time for Boeing and the 777,” said Alan Mullaly, president and CEO of Boeing Commercial Airplanes. “Our original vision of growing the 777 program into a family of five models that safely and efficiently serve the needs of our customers is becoming a reality.”
The airplane incorporates for the first time red, white, and blue lines of the Boeing livery on the underside of the plane. The design will begin at the front underbelly, curve upward around the wings, and finish with each color joining under the tail.
“We wanted something that people could see from the ground and that held the airplane out there as new and exciting—because it is,” said Jim Cameron, Boeing’s graphic designer. “There has never been an airplane like this that does what this airplane can do, and that was our inspiration.”
