Approximately 12,000 members of the Wash.-based SPEEA, the Society of Professional Engineering Employees in Aerospace, accepted Boeing’s new three-year contract by an overwhelming majority.
The new agreement includes raises and pension boosts but increases workers’ payments for medical care.
I think the strong yes vote is a reflection of people understanding that indeed it was a contract that made sense, said Charles Bofferding, executive director for SPEEA, Boeing’s second-largest union.
The ballot was sent via mail to SPEEA members. According to union officials, 88.2% of engineers and technicians said yes to the new contract terms, while 11.8% voted no.
