In conjunction with Canadian-based Hydrogenics Corp., John Deere will develop a technology demonstrator fuel cell-powered Commercial Work Vehicle (CWV) that will offer lower emissions, quieter operation, and improved efficiency.
“This vehicle will serve as a technology guide as John Deere moves forward with electrification of its products,” said Bruce Wood, director of Deere’s ePower Technology group, in a company statement.
The group is aiming to test the fuel cell-powered CWV at demonstration sites across the US starting in spring of 2003.
“Although our initial prototypes and demonstrators are in the smaller turf care products, we believe these technologies eventually will be applied in larger equipment as well,” Wood said.
