ISM says manufacturing is on the upswing

According to the Institute for Supply Management’s (ISM) latest report, activity in the manufacturing sector grew for the first time in four months and took the largest leap since 1991.
ISM’s activity index grew to 54.7% in December, up from 49.2% in November. The new orders index experienced its biggest increase since 1980 when it rocketed to 63.3 from 49.9 in November. The overall economy grew for the 14th consecutive month.
