Raytheon, a global leader in defense, has been awarded a $265.8 million US Army contract modification that expands the capability of the Excalibur program to meet both US Army and Kingdom of Sweden (KOS) war fighter needs.
The revised Excalibur program responds to the need for precision-guided projectiles for the Army’s Future Combat System Cannon. The program will enhance the performance of near-term Army platforms and encompass unique operational requirements for the KOS. The KOS has contributed $57 million to the Excalibur program.
“By planning a robust test program at both the subsystem and system level and allowing for multiple design iterations, we have put together a program that will provide a reliable and accurate projectile for the war fighter,” said Lt. Col. Jeffery Wilson, Excalibur product manager.
