Honda Power Equipment (HPE) has announced plans to add a third production line and make other improvements at its Swepsonville, NC plant to meet growing product demand, an investment worth approximately $30 million.
With the expansion, the company hopes to increase annual engine production to 1.5 million units per year.
“This expansion will enable Honda to meet customer demand for our engines—both for Honda products and as a supplier to other power equipment makers,” said Yoshihiko Toyozumi, HPE president.
The new production line will include die casting, machining, and assembly capabilities. Mass production is expected to begin in spring 2004 and should reach full production by fall 2004.
