Health care costs are not only rising for employees but management too, and the National Association of Manufacturers’ director of employment policy, Neil Trautwein, says labor and management should work “hand-in-hand” to combat inflating health care costs.
“Labor can’t blame management for today’s health care cost crisis; both sides are feeling
the pain,” said Trautwein. “Better that labor join management in fighting against future cost increases than fighting across picket lines about cost increases that have been much worse for many other workers and businesses.”
Trautwein also said GE and many other manufacturers have been absorbing cost increases and continue to protect workers from the worst of today’s increases in the midst of a tough economy.
