Hyundai Motors announced plans to build a $50 million proving ground for next-generation Hyundai and Kia vehicles to be run by the Hyundai American Technical Center in California City, California.
The 4,300-acre facility will include a 6.4-mile oval test track, a vehicle-handling course inside the track, a paved hill road, and various special surface roads. It will create approximately 40 full-time jobs and is scheduled for completion in 2004.
“The US offers many appealing opportunities for Hyundai Motor Company, and we continue to invest to ensure our future here,” said Young Woo Kim, senior VP of Hyundai America Technical Center. “The proving ground is an example of our commitment to developing vehicles that meet the unique demands of the American driver.”
