Siemens Energy & Automation has donated equipment valued at about $10,000 to the Indianapolis Electrical Joint Apprenticeship Training Center.
The donated equipment will be used to outfit a 1,000 square-foot motor-control training lab. The donation was part of an industry/academic partnership between Atlanta-based Siemens and the Training Center following a major renovation of the Indianapolis Electrical Training Institute.
The eight wall-mounted motor control stations give our students the opportunity to gain invaluable hands-on experience and skills they will use in the field, said Ron Christ, director of the institute. If we had to purchase the equipment ourselves, we could only have funded a single station, which would compromise the quality of hands-on training that students receive.
