National Steel has signed a purchase agreement with AK Steel for the company’s assets.
The agreement involves all of Mishawaka, Ind.-based National Steels assets, including National Steel Pellet Company in Keewatin, Minn. The transaction, which is targeted for completion in the second quarter of this year, is valued at around $1.125 billion. The company announced earlier this month that it had signed a purchase agreement with US Steel, but that offer was valued at $950 million and did not include the company’s pellet operations.
