President Bush’s budget for the 2004 fiscal year illustrates the government’s solid commitment to speeding the economic recovery, getting Americans back to work, promoting pro-growth economic policies, and limiting government spending.
Jerry Jasinowski, president of The National Association of Manufacturers (NAM), said the budget is “a reasoned balance between providing incentives for economic growth and focusing federal spending on national priorities.”
The 2004 budget provides for improved health care coverage, extended benefits for unemployed workers, and added incentives for small businesses. In addition, the budget allows for increased homeland security spending, improvements in environmental conservation and protection, and education reform.
“We’re glad to see the President has included his growth and jobs package as a part of his budget proposal,” Jasinowski said. “As we’ve said, this package will spur more robust economic and job growth while restoring confidence in our equities markets. All of this in turn will boost overall tax revenues and eventually move us away from deficit spending.”
