Boeing Announces Contracts for 11 Dreamliners and 50 Next-Generation 737s

SEATTLE, May 16, 2007 -- Boeing has announced orders for 11 of its 787-8 Dreamliners and 50 Next-Generation 737s from TUI Group, Europe's largest integrated-tourism company. The orders were previously recorded on Boeing's Orders and Deliveries website as unidentified. The value of the orders is approximately $4.7 billion at list prices. Two of the airplanes have since been delivered and identified.

Alcoa seeks to acquire Alcan for $27 billion

Alcoa Inc. announced Monday that it will offer to acquire all outstanding common shares of Alcan Inc., its Canadian counterpart, for $58.60 in cash and 0.4108 share of Alcoa stock for each outstanding share of Alcan. If successful, the merger would create the world’s largest producer of aluminum, which is used in products ranging from beer cans to bombers. The merger would actually be a reunion, since Alcoa was split into Alcan and Alcoa back in the 1920s due to antitrust concerns.

Solutia Completes Flexsys Acquisition

ST. LOUIS, May 2, 2007 Solutia Inc. has completed its purchase of Akzo Nobel N.V.'s 50 percent interest in Flexsys, the world's leading supplier of chemicals to the rubber industry. Flexsys was formed in 1995 as a 50/50 joint venture between Solutia and Akzo Nobel; effective today it will become a wholly owned subsidiary of Solutia.
