Neways International continues to explore the path to wellness. Brigid Ford reports

Neways, a network marketing company that has been manufacturing safe and innovative dietary supplements and personal care products since 1992, took two steps last year to help maintain its own corporate wellness.

Based in Springville, UT, Neways sells its products in 23 countries around the world through a network of independent distributors. Its product philosophy is to maximize health and beauty while minimizing exposure to potentially harmful ingredients by combining the best of science and nature.

In March 2006, the company appointed Eric Larsen as its CEO. Prior to the appointment, Larsen served as vice president of international operations and development. Later, in November, the company announced it had been acquired by San Francisco–based Golden Gate Capital, a private equity firm. At the time, a company press release noted that the acquisition marked “the completion of a multi-year transition.”

Larsen himself noted that the move was a “major milestone” for the company. “Our partnership with Golden Gate serves to strengthen that position and maximize our potential.” Prescott Ashe, a managing director of Golden Gate Capital agreed, “[Neways’] core mission—creating products with 100 percent non-harmful ingredients—is at the heart of consumers’ desire to live longer, healthier lives and has driven more than a decade of consecutive annual revenue growth,” he said. “By partnering with the Neways management team and its approximately 500,000 global distributors, we are confident that this strong historical performance will continue.”

Neways has purchased a new state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Southern California. With this new facility, the company will be able to meet the demand of new growth and product development.

Terry Rey, vice president of operations, believes that the quality of products that the new facility will produce will “be unique in this industry.” This seems to be the case, as Neways unveiled its newest product, Durian Fusion, to visiting distributors from Japan in January. According to a company news release, Durian Fusion is “the first-ever premium fruit-based liquid supplement made from durian,” a fruit native to Southeast Asia with a long history as a natural remedy. “We are the first to harness the power of the King of Fruits in a liquid supplement,” said Scott Moberly, vice president of sales and marketing at the time of the announcement. “We have spent three years developing a great-tasting product without durian’s distinctive aroma, and we are very proud of the results.”

In a recent video message to distributors, Larsen also looked to the future success of Durian Fusion. “Even though Durian Fusion isn’t officially available until April 9, I’m already hearing great things about our Japanese distributors who attended Neways U in January,” he said. “These folks are helping create a real buzz for Durian Fusion. I’m anxious to see how this product rolls out around the world and how Durian Fusion helps us all take our businesses to the next level.”

Larsen also was upbeat about what is next for Neways. “So what’s coming up in the Neways world? Lots of great stuff,” he said. “I’m very excited for North America NOW up in Salt Lake. The North America market is showing some wonderful signs of progress, and I look forward to getting together with our top North America distributors.

“Suffice it to say that Neways is definitely on the right track,” he continued, “and our distributors around the world are finding more and more success. If you’re holding back on your business for any reason, now’s the time to go after it with all your heart.”
