Premier Foods, the UK's largest food producer, has committed to outsourcing its IT requirements to Capgemini until 2019, having agreed a £9m deal.

Adding to the existing and long-standing relationship between the two companies, this new deal covers the five year period from 2014-2019. The contract covers the Premier Foods IT infrastructure including data centre and technical support for all core business systems.

Premier Foods says that by confirming contractual agreements until 2019 at this early stage, it aims to secure improved certainty of its IT costs, quality and service levels so that essential long-term planning and budgeting activities can be effected with confidence.

Phil McCallum, director of IT & Infrastructure at Premier Foods said: “We have built up a very effective working relationship with Capgemini over a number of years,” he says. “The degree of trust and confidence between our two businesses has continued to grow, and I am therefore delighted that Capgemini has been able to offer us a technically and commercially attractive proposition reaching right through to 2019. I look forward to another nine years of successful collaboration, which will assist Premier Foods in the delivery of its vision to be the best in British food with the brands you really love.”

Premier Foods brands include Hovis, Ambrosia, Mr Kipling, Sharwoods, Batchelors, Quorn, Loyd Grossman, Oxo and Bisto. The company recently announced that it made a pre-tax loss of £54m on revenues of £1.18bn in the first six months of 2010.

Capgemini reported 2009 global revenues of Eu8.4bn and employs 95,000 people worldwide.
