The UK’s fastest growing wound care manufacturer, Crawford Healthcare has announced a major increase in its manufacturing capability after investing in new facilities at its production site in Tarvin, Cheshire.

The move will see the Knutsford-based business quadruple its production capacity, enabling it to produce up to 40m wound dressings each year.

The expansion is designed to serve Crawford Healthcare’s rapid growth internationally, and brings about a 25% increase to its footprint in the North West.

As part of the new facilities, the business has also invested in a raft of new advanced equipment that more than doubles its investment in production technology to date.

CEO of Crawford Healthcare, Richard Anderson commented: “This latest development in Crawford Healthcare’s continued expansion is evidence of our growth strategy in action, as we look to roll out our offering globally.

“Our US division is maturing as anticipated, alongside our more fledgling operation in Germany and the EU, which is why we have taken the decision to invest heavily for the future.

“While the expansion will initially serve our progress in these markets, the investment has been factored into our long-term strategy which will see us develop a much wider international reach.”

In July 2015, Crawford Healthcare announced a 36% increase in global turnover for its latest financial year, hitting £18.3m.

Commented at the time, Anderson said: “Domestic performance remains the bedrock of our group’s expansion and market data indicates that we are the fastest growing wound care business in the UK.

“Over the past few years, Crawford has transformed into a fully integrated healthcare business. Our R&D team has been responsible for delivering a pipeline of incrementally innovative and disruptive technologies that we’ve been able to bring to market swiftly through our in house manufacturing capabilities in the UK.”
