The Institute of Export & International Trade (IOE&IT) has been honoured by His Majesty King Charles III with the conferring of a Royal Charter.
The awarding of chartered status is one of the highest honours His Majesty can bestow on an organisation and is recognition of the Institute’s distinguished contribution to international trade and high standing in public life.
Throughout its 89-year history, IOE&IT has evolved into a leading authority on international trade in the UK and around the world, while maintaining its core values of empowering individuals and organisations with the skills they need to grow their international trade in new markets.
The path to receiving chartered status began over four years ago and has gone through rigorous consultation and examination by the Privy Council. This has ensured IOE&IT demonstrates pre-eminence, stability and permanence in the field of international trade and works overwhelmingly for the public good.
Today the IOE&IT has unveiled a modern new brand identity for the Chartered Institute of Export & International Trade to showcase the Royal Charter and as it looks to its 90th anniversary in 2025.
Terry Scuoler CBE, chairman of IOE&IT Board, said: “The awarding of chartered status demonstrates the integral role the Institute plays, not just in the UK, but in the global development and professionalisation of international trade. In a challenging global environment we remain committed to ensuring the growth and expansion of mutually beneficial and frictionless free trade.”
Marco Forgione, Director General of IOE&IT, said: “We have been empowering global trade since 1935 and putting trust at the heart of trade has never been more important. With growing protectionism around the world, having an organisation that can evangelise for the greater good of international trade is essential. This is an exciting new chapter in our history, one that will allow us to continue to grow and develop our values, and our commitment to the international trade community.”
