Jaguar Land Rover now hopes to create 1,400 jobs through its investment in a new engine plant near Wolverhampton.
JLR has announced an extra £150 million of investment in the site with the first engines due to come off the production line in 2015. The manufacturing centre at the factory will become operational later this year.
When the new factory investment was first announced in early 2012 it was thought that 750-800 production jobs would be created at the site. Yesterday the firm has said it will employ around 1,400 there.
The announcement was made by JLR chief executive Ralf Speth at the Geneva Motor Show which takes place throughout this week.
Overall investment at the new plant, located at the i54 business park is now in the region of £500m.
