Liverpool’s advanced manufacturing is in the spotlight as the region plays host to 4,000 manufacturers from across the country at Smart Factory Expo – the largest digital manufacturing show in the country.

Manufacturing has always been at the heart of the Liverpool region’s economy, from its excellence in ship-building through to the production of one of the world’s leading motor vehicles.

However, Liverpool isn’t solely focused on making things, the region is dedicated to smarter, greener, more efficient manufacturing.

Liverpool City Region has truly embraced the Fourth Industrial Revolution, delivering the UK’s first business support programme for SME manufacturers to help them embrace industrial digitalisation.

LCR 4.0 has already helped more than 70 companies adopt digital technologies to improve their processes and products.

Thanks to its illustrious schools, colleges and universities, Liverpool City Region has a rich seam of future engineering and digital talent that will join an existing workforce.

The region is bursting full of innovations and entrepreneurs that are revolutionising their industries. Not only is Liverpool home to individuals and creators, it also has the right infrastructure in place to nurture and support them.

Smart Factory Expo 15-16 November, Exhibition Centre Liverpool

A taste of what you’ll see at Invest Liverpool’s stand SO3:

  • Valuechain Demo – created through the LCR4.0 project, Valuechain and the Virtual Engineering Centre (VEC) have collaborated to create a virtual connected factory that utilises latest the digital manufacturing technologies.
  • Sensor City – Dr Joanne Phoenix will explain the support available to companies – from corporates to starts ups – looking to develop novel sensor applications.
  • University of Liverpool – Professor Dirk Schaefer highlights innovation through cyber-physical production engineering.
  • Liverpool John Moores University – Dr Bob Askwith and Lesley Lambert demonstrate what LJMU’s PROTECT research institute is doing to safeguard systems against cyber-attacks.
  • STFC Hartree – Dr Tom Kirkham discuss the Hartree Centre’s work on the development of distributed and cognitive computing, and big data technologies.
