OFP Timber Framed Homes’ manufacturing facility narrowly avoids serious fire

The Kent-based timber frame manufacturer suffered a fire, causing an estimated £100,000 worth of damage, but its manufacturing facility escaped without damage.

OFP’s offices were destroyed but the manufacturing facilities opposite, which included valuable equipment and stock, avoided the flames.

Four fire engines arrived and over forty firefighters battled against the difficult conditions – caused by the windy weather – to put out the flames at the firm’s site on the Sandwich Industrial Estate.

Company director Neil Brannan was devastated when he arrived on site at 3 am after a phone call from the Kent Fire and Rescue Service.

The fire doors separating the office from the factory managed to stop the spread of the fire, preventing further damage. Unfortunately, the company’s customer records were destroyed after the company’s computers suffered the blaze.

Staff are trying to patch up the business from a smaller room on site that it’s using as a makeshift office to stay in touch with customers.

The cause of the fire is currently being investigated.
