Global accounting network RSM International has released research in conjunction with the European Business Awards suggesting that employers want more than academic qualifications
In such hard economic times, employers are increasingly on the lookout for candidates that display interpersonal skills such as confidence and entrepreneurial spirit, as well as having experience gained from work experience or extra activities undertaken while a student. Vocational qualifications are also relatively attractive, according to the research.
The survey involved interviewing 500 business leaders of large multinational companies and SMEs – it revealed that over 80% of those that were interviewed highlighted creativity and the ability to diversify as key attractive traits.
Carmen Watson, managing director at Pertemps Recruitment commented: “In tough economic times like these, when businesses and corporations are looking for new ideas to give them a competitive edge, advanced interpersonal skills are a sought after asset.”
