Scots gov invest in food and drink

The Scottish Government is to provide £1.4 million to help protect jobs and generate investment in the country’s food and drink sector.

Awarded through the Food Processing, Marketing and Co-operation Grants scheme and 11 companies and organizations are to receive a slice of the pie. This includes £148,563 for the Soil Association to build on its ‘food for life’ programme and £228,804 for the Scottish Crofting Foundation to develop new producer group and collaborative marketing ventures, reports

Rural Affairs Secretary Richard Lochhead said: “Today’s grants are part of a £75 million investment the Scottish Government will make in the industry over the next five years as we move towards our target of growing the value of the industry to £10 billion by 2017.”
