A Devon company manufacturing slings for patient moving and transfer needs has increased its market share by 10% after implementing new environmental and manufacturing systems.
Silvalea, which is based in Newton Abbot and collaborates with healthcare professionals worldwide, has also seen growth in its export market.
Pauline Guilfoyle, managing director of The Silvalea Group, said it was clear the company needed to focus its attention on growth after noticing distribution channels were growing globally as the healthcare industry looked for increased patient solutions.
She also credits the support of the Manufacturing Advisory Service (MAS) as a key factor for the company, which employs 55 staff and had turnovers of £3m last year.
“MAS provided us with valuable advice and constructive support as we identified that our manufacturing and administration procedures needed updating to meet our predicted growth targets,” she said.
She added: “They helped us implement a comprehensive staff training programme for our new manufacturing system, which we wouldn’t have been able to undertake on our own.”
MAS advisor for Devon Phil Halse said following the group’s support for Silvalea, it has potential for continued growth in the coming years.
“Silvalea had the vision and ambition to grow and we were able to provide the necessary insight into their wider operational needs,” he said.
“The company now has a solid foundation for further expansion and we hope to support them further with future projects.”
